HCMC To Stop 17 Projects For Thu Thiem 4 Bridge
Ho Chi Minh City proposed to stop 17 projects to save more than 1400 billion VND for urgent works, including Thu Thiem 4 Bridge – a key project and prioritized for investment in the period 2022 – 2025.

Cautiously Searching For A Prestigious Contractor
In the initial stage of project preparation, the Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City has approved in writing a contractor selection plan to build Thu Thiem 4 Bridge in the form of a public private partnership (P.P.P).
Accordingly, the project is implemented in the form of appointment of contractors, including 3 bidding packages with a total investment of more than 700 million VND from the city budget, in which:
- Package 1 begins to select contractors in the Q4/2022: Prepare request documents and evaluate dossiers of proposals for consultancy, survey and complete pre-feasibility study reports.
- Package 2: Preparation of a pre-feasibility study report, completed in the Q4/2022.
- Package 3: Verification of the pre-feasibility study report, expected to be completed in the Q2/2023.

Thu Thiem 4 Bridge has a huge investment capital
Thu Thiem 4 Bridge is invested up to 5,300 billion VND, plays an important role in connecting Thu Thiem new urban area, Thu Duc City with District 7. By design, Thu Thiem 4 Bridge is nearly 2.2km long and 28m wide, 6 lanes with design speed 60 km/h and 2 sidewalks. In addition, the bridge is designed with a lifespan of 100 years and can withstand a magnitude 7 earthquake.
Strategic Step Of HCMC
Thu Thiem 4 Bridge is expected:
- Shorten traveling time, relieve traffic pressure from Binh Thanh, Thu Duc to other districts such as District 7, District 8, Nha Be and Binh Chanh.
- Contribute to reducing traffic congestion, minimize accidents related to crowded activities in the port of District 4 and 7.
- Above all, create sustainable potential to attract investment, contribute to speeding up the development of Thu Thiem new urban area, thereby promoting the city’s socio-economic development.
Thu Thiem 4 Bridge is one of five important infrastructure works connecting Thu Thiem area with neighboring districts. In which, two bridges have come into operation: Thu Thiem Bridge 1 – connecting with District 1 and Binh Thanh, and Thu Thiem Bridge 2 – connecting directly to the city center.
At the 8th session of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council, the delegates approved the decision to give the two bridges a new name. Specifically, Thu Thiem 1 Bridge will be named Thu Thiem and Thu Thiem 2 Bridge – the new symbol of HCMC will be named Ba Son.
Ba Son Bridge and Thu Thiem Bridge are important works to open urban traffic bottlenecks and revive Thu Thiem real estate
