Thu Thiem 2 Bridge Ready For Traffic On 30/04/2022
After 7 years of construction, going through a difficult time of social distancing during the Covid-19 epidemic, the progress of Thu Thiem 2 bridge has been maintained and is currently completing the last items such as lane markings, planting landscaping, lighting system… ready for the opening ceremony of the bridge on April 30, 2022.
When completed, Thu Thiem Bridge 2 combined with lighting will be an architectural highlight on the Saigon River day and night.

Bach Dang Park Renovated
Along with Thu Thiem 2 bridge, Bach Dang riverside park was renovated with many lawns and paths for people to visit.

The city decided to embellish the entire park from the Thu Ngu flagpole to the Saigon – Ba Son complex project, 18,600 m2 wide, divided into two phases.
Phase one from Thu Ngu flagpole to pier 2 is more than 8,700 m2, cost of 35 billion VND (~USD 1.5 million) has been completed. The section from Thu Ngu flagpole to pier No. 1 was renovated as soon as possible. The entire park is paved with stones, planted with grass to create paths, installed railings at the piers and riverbanks.

The campus around the Thu Ngu flagpole with an area of more than 3,000 m2 is planted with grass and paved with stylized lotus flowers. The 155-year-old flagpole was restored from the beginning of 2021, with a cost of 10 billion VND (~ 400,000 USD), completed after a month.

Phase 2 from pier 2 to the cannon area, about 7,300 m2 wide, with a cost of 30 billion VND (~USD 1.3 million), started in September 2021, is being fenced for construction, expected to be completed this year.
After renovation, the park will be divided into 3 functional areas: historical memorial area (about 4,000 m2); tourism promotion area (about 5,150 m2); community park (about 2,750 m2).
Bach Dang Wharf at 2 Ton Duc Thang Street – opposite Nguyen Hue pedestrian street including the harbor and park, 1.3 km long, 23,400 m2 wide. This is a place where people and tourists come to have fun and watch fireworks every holiday and Tet.
New Look Of Tran Hung Dao Monument
Me Linh Park with the scale of nearly 0.6 hectares of embellishment aims to synchronously embellish the landscape of the area, connecting the landscape of Bach Dang Park to the Thu Ngu flagpole. The campus is renovated with granite walkways, more seats in the miniature areas, lighting systems, green areas…

As for Bach Dang Park, the scale of embellishment is about 1.6 hectares. In which, there are 8,700 m2 of walking paths, a living courtyard made of volcanic granite and 7,000 m2 of green areas, ornamental plants, and grasses that shape the architectural space of the lotus flower chain throughout the park, creating space and an open view to the outside Saigon river.
Planning to Undergroundize Ton Duc Thang Street
Ton Duc Thang Street along Bach Dang Wharf, District 1, in the plan is moved to the ground with underground parking, the space above is for pedestrians.
This is one of the orientations in the architectural management regulations that have just been approved by the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. Currently, the City Department of Planning and Architecture is also organizing a contest for ideas for underground space planning for the entire city center (930 ha) and Thu Thiem New Urban Area.

According to the plan to underground this route, the section along Bach Dang Park nearly one kilometer long will make two floors below ground, allowing cars to run in two directions.
The underground car park is built along the route, about 100 m from Me Linh construction site towards Ngo Van Nam street, with a capacity of about 300 cars and can be partially utilized for motorbikes. The walkway is arranged from the underground car park to the Me Linh construction site at the first basement.
Along with Ton Duc Thang street, the area in the middle of the nearby Me Linh construction site will build an underground floor to form a “sunken garden” for retail stores, coffee shops, restaurants… to operate. This “sunken garden” connects directly to the underground car park under Ton Duc Thang street and surrounding buildings.
On the ground, Me Linh construction site spends 50% of its area on green areas, building fountains, creating open spaces… Between the construction site and the Saigon River, bus stations, light railways, and water taxis will be arranged conveniently for pedestrians…
