How to Apply CHEAPEST Long-term Visa | Vietnam Visa Rules UPDATED Recently!
Vietnam Visa options have been the first topic to search for any foreigners before coming to Vietnam to travel, work, open business or retire…
But, it’s not something every foreigner will have the full knowledge of as the information about Vietnam Visa options are mostly in Vietnamese or through the guidance of an intermediate Visa service provider.
In this article, I will try to summarize the most up to date Vietnam Visa regulations in 2024 so foreigners can have an idea of:
There are Vietnam Visa options as below:
Short-term:
1/ Exemption Visa: 45 days (This Visa exemption program is applied for some European and Asian countries only. Do check this with Visa provider from your country first to see if you get the exemption or not)
2/ E-visa: 90 days (Normally, the guidance to apply this online can be found here: https://e-services.mps.gov.vn/bocongan/bothutuc/tthc?matt=26277)
Long-term:
1/ Marry a Vietnam Spouse: 3-5 years TRC (Temporary Residence Card, this works like a long term visa)
2/ Have a Vietnam Company Sponsor: 1-2 years TRC
3/ Have your own business in Vietnam: 1-3 years TRC
The 1/ is unlikely to happen as finding a life partner is not easy. Any relationship building will take time. Finding a spouse may take a very long time that not everyone can afford this.
The 2/ is OK, but not all foreigners want to come to Vietnam to work. There are other needs like retirement or just settling or finding business opportunities.
Hence, the 3/ option is worth considering if the cost is not that much. Open a business in Vietnam and let it sit still as a shelf company cost a little in set up and a little in maintenance in a year.Â
I have looked into other Visa programs for retirement in Thailand or Malaysia. They require fund from 50,000$ to be in the bank account for the entire time. Not to mention, Thailand only accepts some countries for the retirement Visa. But I have to say both of them are quite pricy.
What brings me to attention is the 3/ option of long-term Visa in Vietnam only costs:
– Set up cost: about 1,200$
– Maintaining cost for a year: about 1,000$
So the total for 1 year is only about 1,000$ for maintaining. This price is the CHEAPEST in the area that you can find and this DOESN’T require any fund to be sit idling in the bank account.
So besides these options, are there any options else out there that are available that I should know of? Please share your thoughts in the comments below.
